Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including budget reform, tax reform as well as The Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
